Allie O'Neill

Allie O'Neill is a Vancouver based composer, pianist and educator. She has studied composition under Alan Matheson, John Korsrud and Jill Townsend, and piano with Alan Matheson, Sharon Minemoto and Brad Turner. 

Allie completed her Music Diploma in Composition/Arranging at Vancouver Community College followed by studies in piano at Capilano University.  

She has been involved in music from an early age beginning on violin and later studying Ukrainian singing, cornet and the drums.also making two trips to Indonesia (2006 and 2012) to perform as part of the Alligator Joy Gamelan Ensemble and has performed with numerous bands around Vancouver. 


Allie has won several scholarships and awards from her time at university and was selected in 2019 to participate in a performance by the 'Alan Matheson Septet' as part of Pro Musica's Further Series. This performance featured her piece entitled 'Folk Songs'. She was also selected for the 2021 incarnation of the Hard Rubber Orchestra's reading series for emerging composers. In 2022 she was selected to present her piece 'Patricia' at the International Jazz Composers Symposium for that year in Austin, Texas. She currently writes music for her septet. 

Allie has studied Early Childhood Education with Laura Hasthorpe and has been at Colourstrings since 2018.
